Prime Minister Charlot Salwai wants to see direct flights from China and Chinese tourists coming to Vanuatu.
Prime minister Salwai conveyed this to the Deputy Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Guo Zezhou when he made a courtesy call to the PM last Saturday.
PM Salwai told the CPC Deputy Minister that tourism sector and agriculture sectors are crucial for the economic development of Vanuatu.

One hundred new citizens of Vanuatu were awarded their citizenship certificates in a ceremony at Au Fare restaurant at Melcoffee in Port Vila Thursday.
All of them recently received their citizenship after the Government’s Citizenship Commission approved their applications for the citizenship of Vanuatu.

Japan has committed $36 million dollars for a multi purpose wharf being built in the Vanuatu capital, Port Vila.
This latest funding comes on top of $US54 million already granted for the project.
The Japanese Ambassador, Takuji Hanatani, says Vanuatu will benefit from the construction of a new wharf, a container yard, an administration building and other important facilities.
