The Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ralph Regenvanu who pioneered the “No Plastic – Vanuatu” initiative begins his shopping with an environmentally-friendly re-usable ABM shopping bag launched in all outlets this weekend.
“It is great to see that our biggest supermarket has supported the initiative for a cleaner, greener Vanuatu,” he said.
The ban on single use plastic shopping bags, plastic straws and polystyrene takeaway containers comes into effect 1st July 2018 after the law was passed in February earlier this year.
Awareness campaigns for the No-Plastic national initiative have been well received in Vanuatu to make efforts in keeping it cleaner.
Vanuatu is the first country in the Pacific to take the initiative to ban plastic.
